Meals on Wheels (MOW)
MOW meets each Monday morning in the large Sunday School room from 9:00 to 10:30. Meals are brought to church by MOW truck. Six volunteers sack them and put them in appropriate containers for each of six routes. Drivers depart at 10:30, and each route takes about 30 to 45 minutes to deliver. There's always room on the list for substitute drivers.
Nursing Home Ministry
Several church members (along with non-member friends of the congregation) regularly visit nursing homes in our area to share the gift of music. They sing Gospel, country, and bluegrass songs, plus some traditional hymns. Few things are as powerful as music, especially to those near the end of their lives and those suffering from dementia. Some song lyrics and musical notes are capable of pushing through the fog of dementia or the loneliness of old age, bringing joy and comfort. Others bring back old memories and cause smiles.
Women of the Word (WOW)
In January, WOW prepares for a soup supper, and donations from that meal go to World Hunger Relief. In June, we have a guest speaker, and our offering goes to that speaker's organization. WOW also collects the fronts of Birthday cards, get well cards and Christmas cards (no writing on the back, please) and gives them to Mosiac and Friends for Life. They use them for activities with their clients. Ruth Circle
An offering is taken at each meeting, and the it is given to a local charitable organization like the Salvation Army, Meals on Wheels, or Mosiac. Stitch and Chatter
Stitch and Chatter uses donated fabric to make lap robes to give to home bound people. Some go to Friends for Life, Family Abuse Center, Mosaic and other organizations in need.
